Rainbow Flying Geese BQF Entry #1

This is my first entry for the blogger's quilt festival that I call the rainbow flying geese quilt.  It is a queen size quilt that I started in 2012 and only recently finished.

This quilt is made with only 4 different fabrics (2 ombre fabrics, Kona charcoal and a black backing fabric).  All the flying geese are single seam flying geese - a method that saves so much time and makes the geese a little 3-D but uses more fabric.

Oh and did I mention it is hand quilted in 14 different colors - something I will probably never attempt again on such a large scale, but is beautiful close up.  In between each flying geese I hand quilted a flying geese in a coordinating color going the opposite direction.  The result was 682 separate stitched areas - not that I counted or anything...

The finished size of the quilt is approximately 85" x 102", and I am very proud of the final result.  If you would like to read more about this quilt you can see previous posts here and here.

I am entering this quilt into the Hand quilted Category, of the Blogger's Quilt Festival held at Amy's Creative Side.  If you havn't checked it out yet, it is worth a look!

Thanks for reading!
