Cat in the Hat Quilt - Blogger's Quilt Festival Entry #2

This is my second entry for the Blogger's Quilt Festival held at Amy's Creative Side.  This is the one of two quilts I made for my nephews.  One got a Lorax themed quilt (you can read more about that here) and one received a Cat in the Hat themed quilt (original post found here).  I am entering my Cat in the Hat quilt, because it is my favorite of the two of them.

Quick back story on this quilt: A few years ago I had the wonderful opportunity to live on the beautiful island of Montserrat located in the Caribbean.  While I was living down there my mother-in-law and I painted my nephews' bedroom with Dr Seuss Murals.  Fast forward a year or two and I am back living in the US and come across the Lorax and Cat in the Hat fabric.    Clearly my nephews were in need of some matching quilts to go with their walls.  More on the murals found here.

A glimpse of two of the walls we painted, before the quilts were made.
The Cat in the Hat quilt was made with the Cat in the Hat and Celebrate Seuss fabric lines by Robert Kaufman.  The quilt was my own design and has a panel in the center with wonky blocks that were squared up on the final border of fabric.

My nephews love to show everyone that comes over to their house their Dr. Seuss room.  What more could you ask for when working so hard to make such a fun room.

The Dr. Seuss room all put together (murals, quilts and pillow cases)
The quilt was backed in a Royal Blue Kona Cotton with some Dr Seuss Details and bound in the Celebrate Seuss rainbow stripe.  The binding really made the quilts pop I was so Happy I used it on them.
