Lets Get Acquainted Blog Hop

Hi everyone welcome to the final week of the Let’s get Acquainted Blog Hop hosted by the wonderful Beth @ Plum and June!  A quick intro for those who don't know me - My name is Elise Lea and I am a wife to a pilot named Jesse, mother to a miniature pinscher named Raptor, an avid quilter and a fabric addict.

My husband Jesse has always been my biggest supporter.  He continually encourages me and pridefully tells others about my quilting.  He loves that I quilt and believes it is a great skill and constructive outlet (especially when he is gone on the road).  Without him and his support I wouldn't have this blog and I probably wouldn't even be a quilter.

Our dog Raptor (technically F22 Raptor, named for the fighter Jet, but we just call him Raptor) is our 10lb ball of crazy who shows up on my blog from time to time. Sometimes he is there on purpose but usually it is because he has a knack for photo-bombing my sewing pictures.

I started Lovelea Designs towards the beginning of this year as a way to share my sewing/design and to get more involved in the quilting community. The name Lovelea Designs is a play the world lovely and my last name Lea (pronounced like Lee). In Short: Lovely + Lea = Lovelea. I called it Lovelea Designs because I ultimately would like to design fabric as well as patterns so I wanted a name that didn’t purely imply quilting.

My favorite type of project is a one that I design myself. Most of my quilts are my own designs and are usually figured out as I go. I start with an Idea of what I want the quilt to look like and work from there trying to recreate the image in my brain. Sometimes I plan it out first on paper as I did for the Sun Quilt and Rainbow Star Pillow Top.  Other times I just design as I go which I did for the Cat in the Hat quilt. Fortunately for me It usually turns out better than I imagine because I can make changes as I go.

Some quick Facts about me:
  1. I currently live in Minnesota (a state close to Canada for those who don't know)
  2. I work at a quilt shop, but have a degree in business administration & marketing.
  3. I lived on a small island in the Caribbean called Montserrat (a British Overseas Territory) for about a year and a half.  It is where my husband is from, and where his family still lives.
  4. I sew on a Brother Innov-îs 900D a small machine that also does embroidery.
  5. My goal is to one day design fabric and sewing patterns.
Thanks for coming by my blog!  You can also find me on Pinterest, Etsy and follow me on bloglovin'.  Don't forget to check out the other blog hoppers this week!
