Quilting Progress and Machine Breakdowns

The last couple weeks have been quite busy for me!  I finally finished my Sun quilt top, then I had to fix the top and I have begun the quilting process.  Unfortunately I hit more speed bumps as my sewing machine decided to stop working properly and I had to take it in for repairs. Luckily for me my mother kindly offered to let me borrow her machine.

Her machine is a beast compared to mine and the quilting of the sun quilt has gone much more smoothly under it.  I have completed quilting the sun and more than half of the background and it just flies through that machine. Don't get me wrong I am not complaining about my machine it is just that when I am doing the actual quilting it is sometimes hard to cram a quilt into the tiny throat space on mine.  Think a 5.5" throat compared to about an 8.5" throat.

My mother's machine and the tree that fell against the house.
In addition if you look at the above picture you will notice half a tree leaning up against my sewing room window.  I saw that happen this morning.  I had just gotten up went into my sewing room and all of a sudden I hear a noise slowly scraping on the window.  I look up to find the top of a tree slowly falling over onto the roof.  Luckily it appears to have caused no damage, probably because it tipped over so slowly.  I mean seriously, as far as trees falling over go, this was rather unexciting... not that I wanted more excitement, I'm just saying.

I hope you are all having a wonderful day!  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. So good that you could borrow your mum's machine, especially at the quilting stage. Pleased the tree has left minimal damage - quite a different view to your last post!
