Sunday Stash - Simply Southwest

Today's Sunday Stash addition is Simply Southwest by Moda.  This charm pack was a gift awhile back, but I just never got around to blogging about it.  This fabric is really fun to me.  It does really seem to portray the style, color and patterns found in the southwest.  It also reminds me of my brother and soon to be sister-in-law which makes me like it even more.

I am not usually the biggest pre-cut collector (besides fat quarters) but I do like how versatile they are.  Oddly enough for not being much of a pre-cut person I seem to have been collecting a fair amount of them lately.  Some of them have been gifts (not complaining by the way I just usually go for larger cuts), others I bought myself.  The one really nice thing about a precut bundle like a charm pack or layer cake is that you get every fabric in a collection and if you really like a specific fabric you can go buy more of what you want.

What cuts of fabric do you like working with the most? FQs? Layer cakes? Charm Packs?

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

  1. Is this weird? I don't buy them. I have bought a few in the past, but in general I'd rather buy yardage and cut what I need. I find the pre-cuts to be a little pricey and there is almost always some number of them I HATE. OR, there isn't quite enough of one and too much of another, etc etc etc. Guess I'm just too much of a control freak. :)

  2. It does look like a fun range, I wonder what you will make from it...
I've bought one two charm packs and one jelly roll. Like you I found a charm pack a good way to see the collection as I do most my fabric shopping online. However I nearly always buy yardage. I will often search around online through etsy and many sites to find the true tone/colour of a fabric, hopefully one photographed in natural light, before I decide to buy.

  3. Great question. I still haven't decided yet which one I like but it is exciting that there are so many patterns for all of these types. I rarely buy fat quarters though because I feel like a half yard is a better value of money.
