WIP Wednesday - Hexagons

Pardon the quality of this photo but here is a sneak peek at something I will be working on for some time to come.  A while back I started cutting up all my scraps into different size squares: 2 inch, 4 inch etc.  Well, I filled a sandwich baggie full of those little 2" square scraps and realized that they should no longer be squares.

I could tell once I saw them all tucked nicely in their little baggie that these little babies were destined for something greater, something with more edges.  They needed to undergo a transformation and  become what they were meant to be - paper pieced hexagons with an edge of .75".

The hexagons have now moved from their old home in their plastic bag to vintage mason jars (quite the upgrade if you ask me).  Now they are waiting for more friends to join them in their new homes.

What do you do with your scraps?  Save them up for quilts, pillows, bags etc?  I would love to hear from you.

Thanks for reading!

Love,

Elise Lea

P.S. If anyone has any ideas on where to get some scraps free or cheap (mostly tone on tone, solid or white and color prints)  I would love to hear your ideas.

  1. These are looking great Elise Lea! I love the rainbow of colours and differing prints. They look wonderful arranged together and also in the jars, a lovely decoration and reminder to keep adding to the collection.

I keep my scraps too and have used many in my current Sunlit Treasure" quilt. The smaller ones I keep too as the fabric is so pretty. I'm not sure where you could find scraps. Maybe you try a jelly roll???

  2. Thanks Karen! I know the feeling about the fabric being so pretty, that's how I ended up with all those scraps.

But as for the Jelly roll idea that might work great. I was thinking of possibly using a charm pack and cutting it up as well. Thanks for your ideas, and
