Custom Rainbow Pillowcases

Remember this throw pillow I made awhile back?  It is currently listed for sale in my Etsy Shop, and I recently got a message from a very lovely woman asking me if I could do something similar for bed pillows.  After a few more messages back and forth I had a better understanding of what she was looking for and I officially received my first online custom order!

I started these pillowcases by making templates in illustrator and foundation paper piecing the stripes on the actual points.  The idea was to create two identical stars that were mirror images of each other so the same color would point towards the middle of the bed, and the same color would point up, etc.

After completing the star points I went to work on the background again used templates I made but this time sticking them to the fabric with a little basting spray, draw the seam allowances around them and carefully cutting them out one at a time - which allowed me to minimize fabric waste.

Now I am off to put the stars together (which is a pain in the rear because of the weird seams they create).  Wish me luck!
